What to look for when choosing a provider?

There are many different factors that you'll be considering when choosing a provider to make sure that your Hotel Broadband installation is a success. Enabling your bedrooms and conference rooms is an investment that should last for many years so it's important that you get it right first time.

Here are some questions you should be asking...

Does the provider have a proven track record with hotels throughout the United Kingdom? Is their focus targeted specifically at the hotel industry?

Hotel Broadband has been providing High Speed Internet solutions to hotels in the UK for over 3 years and has an excellent portfolio of installations and happy clients ranging from small country houses to luxury 5 star hotels.

More Info Hotel Broadband was originally formed by hoteliers with a passion for technology. Having identified the need for this solution in 2002, the current directors set about developing a High Speed Internet solution that was specifically tailored for the Hotel Industry. A busy 120 bedroom 4 star hotel was used as the test-bed for development, improvements, and new features for the system.

In 2003 Hotel Broadband began to role out their solution to hotels throughout the country, and today they have an extensive portfolio of hotels throughout the UK. The solution is now extensively refined and feature rich.

Does the provider offer 24 hour guest support?

An installation by Hotel Broadband offers a 99% first time connection rate, however on occasion guests may have a question regarding the access or have trouble connecting due to a miscellaneous problem. Our trained guest technical support team will liaise with guests and assist them with their connection.

24 hour guest support means that you can concentrate on running your hotel and let us deal with any questions directly.

Does the provider secure guests laptops once connected?

At Hotel Broadband our advanced Network engineers will ensure that the installation and equipment installed fully supports client network isolation. This means that laptop users on the network cannot communicate directly with each other. This is most important step in protecting a laptop connected to the Broadband connection.

Can the provider give you a good selection of hotel references where they have installed their system throughout all bedrooms and conferences rooms?

Hotel Broadband has built its success upon providing a market leading solution, installation service and support service. We value each and every hotel that we have installed at, and our relationship only truly starts the day we certify the installation. We offer an excellent level of support and will go that bit further to ensure you receive the best service possible.

We would be delighted to provide you with a comprehensive list of our existing installations. What's more with our installations becoming wider spread we can probably showcase our solution to you at a nearby hotel.

Does the provider offer a complete package from start to completion including support?

When you choose Hotel Broadband we are experienced in all aspects of the installation and we're used to working with hotels. A solution includes our full consultancy services, professional installation, testing, training, marketing, including hotel and guest support.

Does the provider's Broadband Gateway give you control over all aspects of managing Broadband throughout your hotel? Does it allow for flexible billing models?

Our controller which is specifically designed for hotels allows you to manage Broadband throughout your hotel in whatever way you see fit. The system fully supports flexible billing models (including FREE access), automatic billing to your PMS system, ability for guests to view their room bill on their laptop, bandwidth control (to share bandwidth evenly between users), an advanced conference module, 24/7/365 automatic status monitoring of the entire Broadband network, and full reporting.

Does the provider help you market and promote your new High Speed Internet access service?

At Hotel Broadband we will provide you with tent cards, instruction guides and give you careful guidance about how you should be promoting this new facility.

Is the provider going to install a system that is totally self sufficient, and not reliant on their central headquarters?

Just in the way you purchased your telephone system when you install Broadband throughout your hotel with Hotel Broadband you are purchasing the full system and controller so that you are providing Broadband to your guests independent of ourselves. Of course our solutions are backed up by a comprehensive and optional service support plan both for guests and hotel.

If you are going to have wireless (Wi-Fi) access installed throughout your hotel does the provider fully certify the wireless network on completion?

At Hotel Broadband we have years of experience at installing wireless access throughout hotels – covering an entire hotel with no “weak” or “black-spots” requires advanced knowledge of wireless networks and how the individual access points interact.

We always will check the signal within each bedroom and conference to ensure that guests have a good reliable signal with which they can connect to the Broadband system. As a policy when we design a wireless network we require a much higher signal level to be present throughout compared with many of our competitors.

For this reason we will install and propose more wireless access points than many of our competitors and we're proud of this fact. The reason why we have such a good reputation with our installations and users is that our strong coverage throughout means that guests enjoy a reliable connection experience. On completion we will have a complete graphical representation of the signal level throughout your hotel.

As market leaders in this industry we are already being asked to act as consultants for poor installations – invariably the major problem is a poorly configured wireless network.

Will guests be presented with a fully customised and branded welcome portal when they connect to the Broadband connection?

With our advanced Hotel Broadband Guest Service Gateway guests will be presented with a custom welcome portal in keeping with your brand. This portal can be custom designed so that you promote facilities or offers for your hotel.

Can the provider securely integrate a single incoming Broadband connection for guests and your hotel network?

It you want to only pay for one Broadband connection we can securely firewall your office network from your guests.

Does the provider offer a full support and installation service for your office network?

At Hotel Broadband we have excellent experience in installing and maintaining hotel office networks should this be something that you require.

Can the provider offer you a tour of one of their existing installations?

We're very proud of each and every one of our installations and would be pleased to arrange for you to tour a hotel (subject to liaison with the hotel).
